STEP 1
Using a beard trimmer, begin at the neck and move upwards toward the face, running against the grain. The trim should be set at a length of about 3 mm.
For an even look, leave the stubble longer in thinner areas and cut it shorter in places where the hair is thicker. A must? Use a trimmer with attachments to clip at different lengths.
STEP 2
For a preppier look, shave the stubble closer on the cheeks. To guide your trimmer, use a straight comb to make a line from the top of the ear to the corner of the lips.
STEP 3
Beware of the double chin effect! The secret of all great beards? Never completely shave your neck—be sure to leave about 1 mm of stubble.
